Are there any academic requirements/pre-requisites to become an
Academy participant?
A. No – None.
Like the real world – employers are concerned with your
ability to get an Assignment done excellently –
on time (‘as scheduled’). They really don’t
care about your school grades – extracurricular activities
and the like.
Q.
Is the E-Commerce Training Academy a program to teach
IT skills?
A. NO. It’s
presumed you already know your respective skills (see Needed
Skills). The Academy is a place where you practice
working in development teams and APPLYING your respective
skills to a specific e-commerce business.
Q.
If accepted into the Academy Program – do I go to a company’s
office to work?
A. NO. You’ll
be learning/practicing ‘telecommuting’ to work. You
work independently at a location of your choosing –
at times of your choosing via the Internet (via email,
on the company’s server, IM and/or VOIP). Your responsibility
is to have your portion of work done excellently – on
time (‘as scheduled’) – and interface with
your other team members working on the same e-commerce business.
Twice a week there is an optional
meeting held at AMA (CDO – 4 to 6pm) where you have the
opportunity to interface informally with other Academy participants
– discuss technical issues – any problems you may
be experiencing – exchange solutions. It’s exactly
what happens in the real work force.
Q.
Once accepted into the Academy, can I withdraw at any time?
A. Certainly –
you can stop working with any e-commerce company at any time (just
like in the real world). Conversely, any time the quality of your
work declines – or you can’t maintain your agreed-to
work schedules – your participation with be terminated (also
like real world of business).
Q.
How much is the tuition for the E-commerce Training Academy?
A. There is no tuition
(see About Us).
Participants want to participate because they can acquire experience
working with real e-commerce companies – and gain
work credentials to show prospective employers with the click
of a mouse. Ultimately they may be able gain employment with foreign
e-commerce companies – but stay living in the Philippines
and telecommute to work with other team members.

How do I apply to participate in the E-Commerce Training Academy?
A. Click “Apply
to Participate” – complete the FORM.
Your info will be reviewed by an Academy manager - typically within
48 hours. You’ll be contacted by return e-mail.
Q.
Although tuition is free – are there ever any opportunities
to ‘Learn & Earn’ as well?
A. The purpose of
the Academy program is too provide real work experience
to participants – and get them real work credentials - at
no cost to the participants.
However, depending on your displayed
skills levels – and the role you are playing – and
- on the specific e-commerce company under development –
there may be an opportunity for a fixed amount of stipend per
Assignment.
