E-Commerce Business
Development Training

The Academy is not another classroom where you acquire IT knowledge.

The Academy is ‘cyber-space’ on the web where you apply the knowledge that you’ve previously acquired - to selling a company’s products/services via the Web – then taking excellent care of their customers.

You apply knowledge to a ‘real live’ company doing business on the Web.

“Real World” means you’re working in the same type business environment as you would later if you’re offered and accept an offer from a company – regardless of whether it’s On-Site (in their offices) or Off-Site (telecommute). Means you have to complete your work on time (‘as scheduled’) – the work must be excellent quality – you must productively and proactively interact with other e-commerce Team members.

If you can’t accomplish those tasks – you don’t get to keep your position.
That’s the ‘real world’ - get used to it. There’s lots of competition for jobs.

If you are approved to participate in the Academy – you’ll be assigned to a specific e-commerce company. For learning purposes, ideally it will be a new web division of a company so you can be exposed to all the facets and steps of developing an e-commerce company – beginning at its Start-Up Phase.

Once you understand the standard process and paths – they don’t change from one e-commerce business to another. Only the product or service – and the market size potential - changes.

Which part of a development team you’re assigned to - depends on the areas of your existing skills. The Academy is for ‘do-ers’ – not students.
(See Needed Skills)

For example – it wouldn’t make sense to work in the ‘Marketing Section’ of an e-commerce company creating BLOGS – if you have little or no previous skills in creating and operating BLOGS. Or you wouldn’t create web page FORMS (programming) if your area of expertise was Graphics.

Who Is Eligible To Participate in the E-Commerce Academy?

Currently enrolled – exceptionally skilled AMA students in their 3rd and 4th year of studies – OR - previous AMA Graduates seeking careers in E-commerce. You must be recommended by a faculty member to be considered.

Please note – Current Students: The E-commerce Training Academy is an extra-curricular activity. Means participation does not replace any of your scheduled academic work nor responsibilities. There is no tuition charge to participate. It’s a wonderful added benefit of doing your learning at AMA.
